Description:

Do you have the beginnings of a graphic novel but need some help getting it off the ground? Do you have a story, fiction or nonfiction, you’ve always wanted to tell using comics? Is your cartooning stuck in a rut, ready to move up to another level? Put everything else aside and only work on your comics for a week straight! Workshop instructor Paul Karasik is a cartoonist (The New YorkerCity of Glass), a comics scholar (I Shall Destroy All The Civilized PlanetsHow To Read Nancy), and a renowned teacher who really knows how to take good cartoonists and make them better. During this five-day online workshop, students will participate in lectures, collaborative exercises, book discussion sessions, events, and group critiques, with the goal of producing the first draft of a longer comics project.

Required Materials:

Ability to scan and send files. We recommend using the scanner/image capture option through Google Drive on a mobile device. Dropbox also has a great scanning feature if you use their app already. Students may scan using any app, software, or hardware they prefer, so long as it can be done easily and efficiently. Also, basic writing and drawing tools.
OPTIONAL SUPPLIES

An online shopping list of suggested supplies, based on supplies we would normally have available during an on-site CCS workshop. Most of these brands and supplies can be found at other retailers, both online and in-store.
