2024 Thesis Exhibition

Congratulations to the Class of 2024! An exhibit featuring work by the graduating class is on display at the CCS Gallery. The gallery is located at 94 South Main Street, in downtown White River Junction, in the Colodny building. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 12 noon to 4 pm. The Thesis Exhibition will be on display and open to the public from May 8th to May 31st.

The Commencement Speaker for the class of 2024 is Ngozi Ukazu. Ngozi is a New York Times-bestselling cartoonist, a DC Comics artist, and the creator of the award-winning graphic novel Check, Please!, BUNT, and has a forthcoming graphic novel FLIP. Check, Please! began as a popular webcomic, noted as the highest funded project in Kickstarters history. The series won numerous awards including the Reuben and the William Morris Award. Check Please has also been translated into multiple languages. Since 2020 her cartoons have also appeared in The New Yorker. She graduated from Yale University with a degree in Computing and The Arts, and later received a master’s in sequential arts and comics.  Commencement will be held on Monday, May 6th, at 12 noon at Northern Stage’s The Barrette Center for the Arts in White River Junction.

SETH to speak at The Center for Cartoon Studies Commencement Cermony

The Center for Cartoon Studies commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday May 5, 11am, at The Barrette Center for The Arts, with special guest SETH.

SETH is the creator of the comic book series Palookaville. His comics have appeared in the New York Times MagazineBest American Comics, and McSweeneys Quarterly. His illustrations have appeared in numerous publications including the cover of the New Yorker, the Walrus, and Canadian Notes & Queries. He is Lemony Snicket’s partner for the new Young Readers series,  All the Wrong Questions, and has illustrated and designed a new, deluxe edition of Stephen Leacock’s Sunshine Sketches of a little Town. He is the designer for several classic comics reprint series, notably collections of work by Charles Schulz, John Stanley, and Doug Wright and has exhibited throughout the world in group and solo shows.

The event is free and open to the public.

Please join us for the Thesis Exhibition Opening immediately following the ceremony. The exhibit features original work by the graduating class!

This Year’s Commencement Speaker: Jeffrey Brown

The Center for Cartoon Studies is proud to name Jeffrey Brown as our 2015 Commencement speaker! Brown is a graphic novelist and New York Times #1 bestseller for Darth Vader and Son, and its sequels Vader’s Little PrincessGoodnight Darth Vader, and the Jedi Academy series. He has also drawn nearly two dozen books, and directed and animated a video for the band Death Cab for Cutie.

This Year’s Commencement Speaker: Kazu Kibuishi

The Center for Cartoon Studies is proud to name Kazu Kibuishi as the 2014 Commencement Speaker! Kibuishi is a graphic novelist best known being the creator and editor of the comic anthology Flight and the ongoing bestselling Amulet series with Scholastic. He is also the illustrator of the Harry Potter book covers.
