It’s that time of year when the ink and sweaters come out. Inktober! When artists take the month of October to create an ink drawing every day. There is an official prompt list from the instigator of this hallowed tradition, Jake Parker (Little Bot and Sparrow), but plenty of people make it their own. It is one of the best months for finding new artists to follow on Instagram.

A new Comics history book by Sam Carbaugh ′09

 

Sam Carbaugh (′09) published Comics: Investigating the History and Technology of American Cartooning Yourself with through Nomad Press. Geared towards kids, this book gets the reader working with comics to understand how comics got to where they are in America and how the reader can get their own hand into comics.

Sam Carbaugh: Helping The World Panel by Panel

Sam Carbaugh (CCS ′09) recently caught up with Jen Vaughn about life after graduation. His professional projects include an educational comic that teaches kids about the desert and another that teaches IT specialists about disaster preparedness.  He also creates more personal work for his journal comics.  Read the full interview on the Schulz Library Blog.
