Lewis Hyde is a poet, essayist, translator, and cultural critic. Known for books such as The Gift, Trickster Makes This World and Common as Air, as well as his poetry and essays, Hyde has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Lannan Foundation, and the Guggenheim Foundation.
