We stand with the Asian community

Dear CCS Community:

We stand with the Asian community in condemning all violence against Asians and Asian Americans, especially against Asian women, who suffer the majority of this violence. While we will always look to the arts to provide identity, agency, and humanity to all people, today we mourn the lives of individuals lost to racism and bigotry. Eight people were murdered on Tuesday in Atlanta, six of them Asian. This is not an isolated incident. There is an alarming rise in anti-Asian harassment and hate crime. We must all decry these acts of racism. We must also work to understand and dismantle the systems of oppression that underlie them and all acts of intolerance. The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) believes in a more inclusive and equitable world for all and is committed to helping create it.

What you can do – Speak up against anti-Asian violence and oppression.

Please join me in speaking up against anti-Asian violence and oppression as well as supporting the efforts of Movement Hub, a collection of over 40 Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations who are working to combat anti-Asian violence: MovementHub.org

This is a collaborative message from the staff and faculty at CCS.
