Peggy Burns to speak at The Center for Cartoon Studies Commencement Ceremony

The Center for Cartoon Studies commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday May 4, 11am, 2019 at The Barrette Center for The Arts, with speaker PEGGY BURNS.

Peggy Burns is the publisher of Drawn & Quarterly Press in Montreal. SInce its founding in 1989, Drawn & Quarterly has grown into an internationally renowned publisher of the world’s top cartoonists. It has published luminaries including Lynda Barry, Chris Ware, Seth, and Kate Beaton, as well as international authors including Guy Delisle, Tom Gauld and Yoshihiro Tatsumi. The publishing house is celebrated for its high production values, design, editorial integrity, and artistic autonomy.

The event is free and open to the public.

Please join us for the Thesis Exhibition Opening immediately following the ceremony. The exhibit features original work by the graduating class!

Commencement Speaker: Evan Dorkin

Commencement Ceremony will take place Saturday, May 15, at 11am at Northern Stage Theatre at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction, Vermont.

Thesis Exhibition Opening Reception immediately following.
Exhibition runs Monday-Saturday, 10am-2pm, through Saturday, June 12.

Evan Dorkin is the Harvey, Eisner and Ignatz-award winning creator of Milk and CheeseDork, and Hectic Planet, released sporadically, if at all, through SLG Publishing. He’s also put time in at Marvel (Bill and Ted’s Excellent ComicAgent XThe Thing: Night Falls on Yancy Street), Dark Horse (Hellboy: Weird TalesPredatorThe Mask) and DC (Superman and Batman: World’s FunnestBizarro ComicsSuperman Adventures), among other comic book publishers, most of whom are out of business. His comics and illustration work has appeared in EsquireSpinThe Onion and Nickelodeon Magazine (R.I.P), as well as two books, Generation Ecch and the acclaimed novel, I Love You, Beth Cooper.
