CCS on the Coast: Maine Comics Arts Festival

The convention with a view! Stop by the CCS table at the Maine Comics Arts Festival on Sunday, May 19th to chat with students and alumni, see student work and learn about the school. With special guests Jeff Smith, Raina Telgemeier, Dave Roman and more, MeCAF is a lot of fun in a little city!

MeCAF takes place at The Ocean Gateway in Portland, Maine.

CCS Alumni to Exhibit at Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival

CCS alumni have been invited to exhibit at Brooklyn’s favorite curated comics show, the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival. The one-day festival will be held on Saturday, December 3. Be sure to stop by the Secret Acres table, where you can pick up the latest comics by Sam Gaskin and Gabby Schulz. The Sundays collective, which includes Joseph Lambert, Charles Forsman, Sean Ford, Melissa Mendes, and José-Luis Olivares, will also return to the festival.

CCS at Minneapolis Indie Xpo

Join us in Minneapolis! The Center for Cartoon Studies is heading to the Minneapolis Indie Xpo November 5th and 6th. Stop by table 23 to meet our alumni and faculty, and to see the latest comics out of White River Junction. At noon on Saturday CCS will present a workshop on Book Design for Self Publishers. At 11:30am on Sunday we present the Small Publishers Panel. See you there!

CCS at SPX

Once again, The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) will exhibit at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland. On September 10 and 11 we will participate in a full roster of events. CCS faculty Alec Longstreth will collaborate with Tom Hart to offer a Cartooning Workshop. Robyn Chapman, Ken Dahl (CCS Fellow ′07), and Jen Vaughn (CCS ′10) are guests on a new panel titled Images of the Body, which focuses on human body narratives in comics. Robyn Chapman is also a panel member of The Secret History of Women in Comics. In addition, librarian Caitlin McGurk is on a panel about comics in libraries. Be sure to cast your vote in the 2011 Ignatz Awards. Nominees include CCS alumni Joseph Lambert (Outstanding Artist, Outstanding Anthology or Collection), Annie Murphy (Outstanding Anthology or Collection), and Laura Terry (Outstanding Mini-Comic).

CCS will have a table in the exhibition hall where attendees can browse the latest comics to come out of White River Junction. Stop by to meet students and faculty, and learn more about our program.

Cartoon Studies to Exhibit at MeCAF

Cartoon Studies will be heading up to Portland for the third annual Maine Comic Arts Festival on Sunday, May 22nd.  Many of our alumni, faculty members and students will be in attendance, including students from the 2011 class who will have graduated just a week before.  Stop by the table and congratulate them!  We will have student work for sale, so be sure to browse the latest crop of comics out of White River Junction.

CCS to Attend Stumptown Comics Fest, April 16-17

CCS will be exhibiting at the 8th annual Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland Oregon.  This festival continues to draw large crowds, and this year it has moved to the spacious Oregon Convention Center.  Please stop by the CCS table and say hi!

CCS to Attend MoCCA Festival, April 9-10
