Once again, The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) will exhibit at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland. On September 10 and 11 we will participate in a full roster of events. CCS faculty Alec Longstreth will collaborate with Tom Hart to offer a Cartooning Workshop. Robyn Chapman, Ken Dahl (CCS Fellow ′07), and Jen Vaughn (CCS ′10) are guests on a new panel titled Images of the Body, which focuses on human body narratives in comics. Robyn Chapman is also a panel member of The Secret History of Women in Comics. In addition, librarian Caitlin McGurk is on a panel about comics in libraries. Visit the SPX webpage for the programming schedule.
Be sure to cast your vote in the 2011 Ignatz Awards. Nominees include CCS alumni Joseph Lambert (Outstanding Artist, Outstanding Anthology or Collection), Annie Murphy (Outstanding Anthology or Collection), and Laura Terry (Outstanding Mini-Comic).
CCS will have a table in the exhibition hall where attendees can browse the latest comics to come out of White River Junction. Stop by to meet students and faculty, and learn more about our program.
