Cartoon Studies spurs a creative community in the Upper Valley

Arts find home in
White River  Junction

by Brent Hallenbeck
Illustrations by CCS alum
Modi Kwanza

About this project: The idea of presenting the story of White River Junction’s artistic renaissance in illustrated form was influenced by the major presence in town of The Center for Cartoon Studies, a school that opened on South Main Street in 2005. He brought his words and pictures to Free Press copy editor/page designer Modisane Kwanza, an alumnus of The Center for Cartoon Studies, who based his illustrations on those photos.
