The spring lecture series at The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) this spring will feature Ngozi Ukazua and Joel Christian Gill. They are each bringing their skills in three-week intensives as part of the CCS MFA and Certificate program. Joel will discuss using comics to convey historical events, personal history, and the process of adaptation. And in the Publication Workshop, Ngozi will focus on digital coloring techniques and approaches, along with production workflow. Both of these charismatic cartoonists have been CCS Visiting Artists in the past. And Ngozi has taught two digital coloring workshops at CCS, including one during the first-ever season of winter workshops at CCS.
Ngozi Ukazua is a New York Times bestselling author and the creator of Check, Please!. Originally an online graphic novel, the comic’s printing campaign remains the most funded webcomics Kickstarter ever. Check, Please! is available in two volumes from First Second, or in the original three volumes through Ngozi’s site.
