2025 Winter Workshops FAQs

Online Workshops

Q: What workshops are you offering online?

A: Winter of 2025, we are offering the following workshops virtually:

Q: Are the online workshops are fully virtual?

A: Yes! These workshops will be entirely online, using Zoom as the host platform for classes.

Q: What size are the classes

A: All classes are between 12 and 14 students.

Q: What time will classes be held?

A: Check the Workshop pages for the respective online times. All times are in East Coast Time.

Q: Is it possible to take the classes asynchronously?

A: Our classes will be held synchronously and will not be recorded. We believe that our workshops are at their best when held in real-time to foster relationships between classmates and instructors, and provide more engaged feedback in lectures, class workshops, and assignments.

Q: Where can I find a supply list?

A: Supply lists for each workshop are included on their respective workshop pages.

Q: How do I prepare for class online?

A: Our guide for Digital Best Practices can be found here, but our general recommendation is to spend some time familiarizing yourself with Zoom and ensuring that you have a stable internet connection. We’ll also be offering an opportunity for a tech test a week prior to the workshop date for those who want a practice run with zoom and to make sure they feel comfortable with their setup.

Q: Why do I need a Google account for class?

A: We use Google Sites to create a landing page for each workshop that includes the zoom link, the course schedule, and daily assignments. Students will also use Google Drive to Upload and Download materials for work and review. If you do not have a Google account, you can set one up by following these steps.

Q: If I live in New England, can I come visit campus during the workshops?

A: Yes, if you are interested in visiting campus during your workshop, please call or email us at info@cartoonstudies.org to make an appointment.

Q: Can I be added to a waitlist?

A: Yes, to be added to a waitlist, email registration@cartoonstudies.org and specify which class you are interested in.

On-Campus Workshops FAQ

Q: What workshops are you offering on-campus?

A: For Summer 2025, we are offering the following workshops on-campus.

Q: What times will the workshops run daily?

A: Workshops will generally run from 9:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Instructors will let students know about variations in the schedule.

Q: Where can I find a supply list?

A: Supply lists for each workshop are included on their respective workshop pages.

Q: Where can I find accommodations?

A: The Hotel Coolidge in White River Junction, Vermont, is right across the street from The Center for Cartoon Studies and offers reduced rates for summer workshop students. Call to inquire. There is also a Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, White River Inn and Suites, and Comfort Inn under a 1 mile driving distance of the school.

All four hotels are located all on the Advance Transit Bus Orange Route. The bus runs daily from 8am to 8pm, and on Saturdays 10am-5:30pm. Note: no bus service on Sundays. Advance Transit bus service is free on all routes at all times. To see the schedule, click here.

Q: How can I travel to town?

A: For those driving, White River Junction sits at the intersection of I-89 and I-91. The town also has an Amtrak stop with a daily train arriving on the “Vermonter” line. Several bus lines exist, including a Greyhound stop, and the Dartmouth Coach, which has stops in Boston and NYC, and goes up to Hanover, NH. For air travel, some opt to fly into Boston Logan and take the Dartmouth Coach to the Upper Valley, or to fly into Manchester Airport in New Hampshire. There is also the Lebanon Municipal Airport, which offers flights through Cape Air. We do not recommend flying into the Burlington Airport, unless you are able to rent a car, as public transportation from Burlington to White River Junction is limited.

You can find more information on transportation options at the Visit CCS page.

Q: Can I be added to a waitlist?

A: Yes, to be added to a waitlist, email registration@cartoonstudies.org and specify which class you are interested in.
