January 1, 2019
Event date: July 11, 2019 – July 13, 2019
The 10th Graphic Medicine conference will be in Brighton for 2019 and you can get involved by submitting a presentation proposal. The theme this year is queer graphic medicine—”refusing binaries and giving a voice to those who are usually silenced through not belonging.” Beyond the obvious themes of gender, sexuality, and intersexuality, the conference also explores other forms of personal, cultural, and political subversion.
You can propose 5-minute lightning talks, 15–20 minute oral presentations, 90-minute panel discussions with a group of speakers, or 90-minute workshops with hands-on activities. Your submission only needs to be a 300-word abstract and submitted by January 31, 2019. All the information you need to submit your proposal is on the Graphic Medicine site.
Graphic Medicine explores the interaction between the medium of comics and the discourse of healthcare. We are a community of academics, health carers, authors, artists, and fans of comics and medicine.
