San Diego Comi-Con has come to another successful conclusion and we have the winners of this year’s Eisner Awards. We shout out a big congratulations to Sophie Yanow ′16 for The Contradictions and James Kochalka for Johnny Boo and the Ice Cream Computer.
Sophie Yanow won Best Webcomic for her fictionalized autobio comic The Contradictions. The coming-of-age story is set about 10 years ago when she studied abroad in Paris. You can support her award-winning work on Patreon for as little as $1 a month. Sophie, in addition to graduating from CCS, was the 2014/2015 CCS Fellow and after graduating became a teacher at CCS with Jason Lutes.
James Kochalka won Best Publication for Early Readers (up to age 8) for Johnny Boo and the Ice Cream Computer (Top Shelf/IDW), the eighth book in the Johnny Boo series. Volumes 9, Johnny Boo Is King!, and 10, Johnny Boo and the Midnight Monsters, are already out! James was the first Vermont Cartoonist Laureate, from 2011–2014.
