At San Diego Comic-Con, Jason Lutes finally became the award-winning cartoonist he deserves to be. While at his panel “Spotlight on Jason Lutes,” Jason was presented with the Inkpot Award. Comic-Con International’s Inkpot Awards are given to individuals for their contributions to the worlds of comics, science fiction/fantasy, film, television, animation, and fandom services. The complete list of Inkpot Award recipients includes the year they received their award.
The final book in the Berlin trilogy, City of Light, coming out this fall through Drawn and Quarterly, debuted at SDCC where Jason was a special guest. His spotlight panel was moderated by Rob Salkowitz, a comics journalist and scholar from the University of Washington. They discussed his expansive body of work and his experience teaching at The Center for Cartoon Studies. Drawn and Quarterly is also releasing the trilogy in a single collection this September.
