Carl Antonowicz’s ′11 live comic, Büer’s Kiss, was a success, shown at New Hazlett Theater in Pittsburgh. You can now view the opening night (April 12, 2018) performance on YouTube. Büer’s Kiss is a medieval horror story set in a fictional world, loosely inspired by the Lepers’ Plot of 1321, this project deals with themes of exclusion, community, religion, and persecution. You can read more about live performance in this interview.
His next big project is with Sophie Goldstein ′13: They’re getting married! As Carl says:
Sophie and I met at a house party at the now unfortunately defunct Porch House (my class ′11) had a LOT of parties). We sat on the porch railing and chatted about Buffy, comics, Foucault, westerns, and a variety of other topics for hours until we both went our separate ways. I moved away a couple weeks later, but we kept in touch and eventually I moved back to be with her. We’ve been together ever since (6 years!) and we intend to keep it that way!
Sophie is my table buddy, fellow road dog, straight man, Favorite Cartoonist, Captain and Commander. It is a rare thing indeed that she can accomplish all these duties with such grace. I love her very much!
To help defray the cost of the wedding, which is never as simple as it seems, they are having an art sale, offering their comic pages. A great reason to get some art for your wall.
