Who Attends CCS?

The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) is looking for well-rounded students who are committed to creating visual narratives. We want students who can think and will work hard. Limited drawing skills are OK if they are offset by a fearless commitment to putting images on paper. CCS welcomes comic and non-comic book geeks alike. We love art, English, history, philosophy, religion, and graphic design majors and those with a liberal arts background. A high school diploma or GED is required. For MFA candidates a completed bachelor’s degree is required.

CCS’s intense, focused curriculum, renowned faculty, visiting artists, and thesis advisors have allowed White River Junction to establish an international reputation as a unique and vibrant community centered around the arts. Prospective students come to CCS eager to develop their cartooning skills as well as develop their creative careers. CCS serves its mission in its program and economic impact to the village and State.

CCS’s destination program serves a small group of dedicated aspiring cartoonists. Students come to CCS from a diverse background of experience and education (Cornell, Dartmouth, University of Wisconsin, Hampshire College, Savannah College of Art and Design, Rhode Island School of Art and Design, University of New Hampshire, etc.). Students enrolling directly after high school, others after completing a bachelor program or with extensive work experience.
