Application Checklist
1) A PORTFOLIO CONSISTING OF:
A minimum two-page comic story starring yourself, a snowman, a robot, and a piece of fruit. You may combine characters! Format may be a zine, mini-comic, or plain black and white copies. Non-returnable.
Four samples of your work in any media that represents your abilities. CCS will look at comics, computer art, video, paintings, and drawings. Send prints, photocopies, tear sheets, mini-comics, zines, or web addresses. Under no circumstances should you send original art. It will not be returned. When applying online, the following file formats are accepted: pdf, gif, and jpg.
2) ESSAY:
A two- to three-page double-spaced, typewritten essay (fiction or nonfiction) with one of the following titles:
- Cartoonists are like that, OR
- The future
3) CURRICULUM VITAE
4) TRANSCRIPTS:

Students with any college coursework do not need to submit high school transcripts. Transcripts marked “Issued to Student” will not be accepted. The MFA program requires a completed bachelor’s degree at the time of enrollment.

6) FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS:
Financial evidence that shows you have sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses for the duration of the program. For more information, email admissions@cartoonstudies.org.
7) APPLICATION FEE:
A $50 application fee should accompany the application with a check or money order (in USD) payable to The Center for Cartoon Studies. Or, click here to pay online now (PayPal balance or credit card).

DEADLINE:
CCS has rolling admissions; students are encouraged to apply as early as possible since space is limited. The school reviews applications as soon as they are complete and will notify students regarding their admission status. You do not need to submit all application materials at once in order to begin the application process, but your application and requirements must be complete prior to review for consideration.
