The CCS Screen Printing Lab is open 24 hours a day to current students and alumni who have paid the annual lab fee. Each student receives their own 20" x 24" (outside dimension) 195 mesh count screen.
Inks and emulsions are stocked year round. CCS provides Speedball Permanent Acrylic Ink in the 3 primary colors, plus white and black. Process color inks are also available. CCS provides Speedball Diazo Emulsion and Emulsion Remover. Squeegees are available in many different sizes.
The lab is equipped with all the tools necessary to prepare screens using the photo emulsion technique, including several scoop coaters, an industrial light table, a large 2-basin spray-out sink, and a screen drying area with light proof cabinets. Letter size vellum (8.5² x 11²) is available for free, and oversize vellum (11" x 17") can be purchased from the lab tech on duty.
There are four printing stations with hinge clamps, and several portable printing stations. Our multi tiered drying rack can hold a high capacity of prints, allowing several students to use it at once.
A variety of paper and cardstock is available for printing. For students who provide their own paper, a shared paper storage shelf is available.
